The Spirit of Christmas

I've got to admit, that my own Spirit of Christmas has been lacking for a long time. No doubt it is a focus on the negative aspects of time and shopping. Val and Abby of course have has the proper spirit but it really took my son to get to to embrace that spirit. It starts with Tim and I going shopping and the attitude he brought. I found myself enjoying the shopping experience by putting aside my claustrophobia and thinking about the giving of the present.

The second thing Tim did was after a great time at Christmas Eve on the drive home. We were listening to a Christmas CD of Abby's and Tim pipes up, and asks to turn off the music. So we did and he proceeds to sing "O Little Town of Bethlehem" that he learned in school for choir. So he sang the whole song as all three of us had tears in our eyes.

He finished and says, "OK, you can turn the music back on."

That's my boy... or I should say, that's Val's boy. He has taken her spirit of Christmas and taken it to a new level. I have decided to row along with the tide that he, Val and Abby have created.

God bless us, one and all!
